Where You Will Find American Food Favourites in Australia (bricks & mortar and online)

Where to buy American Food In Australia

Where to buy your favourite American food and groceries in Australia

Are you missing your favourite American candy bar? What to know where to get USA soda?  What about your favourite American Cereal? Where can you buy USA groceries and food in Australia?

Thankfully there are some stores here in Australia that sell USA groceries and foods either in store or online or both. After the nation wide stores, I’ve divided the stores into Australian states and most of these outlets ship online as well.

If you are after American fast food places in Australia (including Starbucks) or where are those great American stores in Australia then click the links to get to that information.

Australia Wide

Coles Supermarkets

website: www.coles.com.au

Some Coles Supermarkets will have an international foods aisle or section and sometimes there is a little USA food section.
I’ve seen items like:

  • Dr Pepper
  • Cherry Coke
  • Arizona iced tea
  • Marshmallow Fluff
  • Reese’s
  • Hershey’s
  • Ben and Jerry’s
  • Scrub Daddy and Mommy
  • Frosted Chocotastic Pop-Tarts
  • Downy Unstopables
  • Bar Keepers Friend

Woolworths Supermarkets

Website: www.woolworths.com.au

Most Woolworths have Reese’s products. The Reese’s bars are made in USA but the Reese’s ice cream products are made in Australia by Bulla ice cream. Not that it matters as the ice cream tub is delicious (and gluten free).  They also have:

  • Pop-Tarts
  • Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Cookies
  • Hershey’s Chocolatey Bites (made by Kellogg’s Australia)
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups,  Miniatures and Baking Chips
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips
  •  Stubb’s BBQ Sauce
  • Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce

Costco

Website: www.costco.com.au

Since Costco is an American store, there are quite a few American products available there but there is also a lot of Australian ones.

The products I have seen or bought include:

  • Swiffer
  • Goldfish Crackers
  • Ruffles chips
  • Reeses
  • Hershey’s
  • Ziploc
  • Sweet Baby Rays
  • Skippy
  • Welches
  • Glad Press’n’Seal
  • In November they have fresh pumpkin pies.

I have a Store Spotlight article on my latest visit to Costco Australia which has a list and some photos of American goodies I found.

Aldi Supermarkets

Website: www.aldi.com.au

Aldi usually have a July 4th sale which features some classic USA foods including:

  • Sweet Baby Rays
  • Reeses
  • Hersheys
  • Baby Ruth
  • Pay Day
  • Lays

Here are a few photos of what I found at Aldi’s 4th July sale in 2020.

IGA / Foodworks / Independent Supermarkets

Many IGA’s or similar across Australia have an International Section for USA items. Usually there isn’t a large range but you can often get, Pop-tarts, Dr Pepper, Reese’s, Hershey’s and BBQ sauces.

It would be worth checking your local independent supermarket to see what they have. If they don’t have want you want, it might be worth chatting to the manager and seeing if they can get what you want in – especially if you are going to be a regular buyer of that item.

Victoria (and Tasmania)

USA Foods

  • Swiffer
  • Tide pods
  • Bounce Dryer Sheets
  • Miracle Whip
  • Takis
  • Ranch Dressing / Flavoured items like Pringles

USA Foods is popular and do run out of the popular items often but always use the Notify Me button on the product you want so you can be notified once they restock.

If you order online they can take a little while to ship. USA Foods have several promotions during the year as well as Black Friday.

They also have a podcast called, Gdayall, which features the owners chatting about all things American. Make sure you listen for a discount code!
